    Transmigration

    For horn and tape.
    French horn - Anti Lin.
    Premiere on March 31, 2009.

The idea of composing this piece started when Anti and I were talking about life in different stages. Some feel depressed when they lose something; some feel tired of the life of endless trifles and difficulties. Pursuing a real life is exhausted. However, life is treasure and the joyfulness is everywhere, whenever you look for it. It is the bittersweet which we shall never give up.

In the process of transmigration, there is no actual ending. The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. The concept of an ending is another beginning stands for the whole piece. You will find it in the transformation of the sound, (either from different directions of the stage, or between the sound from the performer and the two speakers), the changing of lights, and the movements of the performer.

    I like it!
